2016 five-star guard Terrance Ferguson decommits from Alabama

Five-star guard Terrance Ferguson will re-open his recruitment after decommitting from Alabama.

2016 five-star guard Terrance Ferguson is decommitting from Alabama, his high school basketball coach told Scout.com.

“He's opening back up his recruitment just based off of him losing his grandmother a month ago," Ray Forsett told Scout. “He wants to make the right decision. He's very much still interested in going to Alabama, but he wants to pray about it and make sure he's making the right decision.”

Ferguson is considered one of the nation’s top wing prospects. He was one of four rising high school seniors—along with Jayson Tatum, Josh Jackson and Harry Giles—selected to compete with Team USA in the FIBA U19 World Championship this summer. Ferguson had committed to Alabama last August amid rumors he could be signing with conference rival Auburn.

Ferguson, a Tulsa, Okla. native who attended Prime Prep Academy in Dallas last year, originally picked the Tide over a list of schools that included Kansas, North Carolina, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. He’s ranked No. 13 by Scout.
