Pittsburgh defensive graduate assistant Scott McKillop is the new linebackers coach and special teams coordinator for Concord coach Paul Price, according to a source.

McKillop returned to Pittsburgh in 2014 as a volunteer assistant after a decorated playing career with the Panthers as a linebacker. He played at Pitt from ’04–08, earning All-America honors and Big East Defensive Player of the Year as a senior when he recorded 137 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, four sacks and two interceptions. McKillop led the nation with 12.58 tackles per game as a junior. His 344 career tackles still rank in the top 10 in Pitt history.

The San Francisco 49ers selected McKillop in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL draft, but after playing in all 16 games as a rookie, he tore his ACL and patellar tendon in the ’10 preseason, halting his career.

The 30-year-old McKillop now joins Concord, which promoted Price to head coach in January. Price has been a coach for the Mountain Lions since 2009, joining the program as linebackers coach before taking on defensive coordinator duties in ’11. He replaced Garin Justice as head coach after Justice left to become offensive line coach at Florida Atlantic.

Concord, a Division II school located in Athens, W. Va., went 5–5 in 2015, its seventh consecutive season with a .500 or better winning percentage.
