Jedd Fisch: Michigan is ‘in no rush’ to name starting quarterback

Michigan is taking its time when it comes to choosing a starting quarterback for the upcoming season.

Michigan is taking its time in choosing a starting quarterback for the upcoming season, the team’s passing game coordinator Jedd Fisch told ESPN.

“We’re in no rush,” Fisch said in regards to the competition for the starting position.

Reshirt juniors John O'Korn and Shane Morris are currently in the running for the spot. O’Korn transferred from Houston after two seasons with the team, but sat out last season with the Wolverines in compliance with NCAA rules.

Morris played two seasons with Michigan before choosing to maintain a year of eligibility and forgo playing in the 2015 season.

“One of them will need to find a way to put us in a rush by taking the job,” Fisch said of the candidates. The coach also noted that both quarterbacks are receiving an equal amount of reps along with sophomore Wilton Speight, redshirt freshman Alex Malzone and freshman Brandon Peters.

Last season, Michigan did not reveal its starting quarterback until the Wolverines took the field for the first game.
