Report: Damon Stoudamire will accept Pacific head coach job
Former NBA star Damon Stoudamire will likely accept the head coach job at Pacific, reports ESPN’s Jeff Goodman.
Stoudamire is currently an assistant coach at Memphis, his second stint with the team. He also was on the Tigers’ staff from 2011–13, and he previously served as an assistant at Arizona, his alma mater, from 2013–15.
Stoudamire broke into coaching in 2008 after a 14-year NBA career. The point guard spent time with the Raptors, Trail Blazers, Grizzlies and Spurs before retiring, averaging 13.4 points and 6.1 assists per game as a pro. He also coached in the NBA, spending two seasons on the Grizzlies’ bench.
Pacific finished 8–20 this season, good for ninth place in the West Coast Conference. The team has not made the NCAA tournament since 2013.
