Marcus Paige surpasses Michael Jordan on alltime UNC scoring list
North Carolina senior Marcus Paige recorded his 1,790th point on Friday night against Indiana in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA tournament, which surpassed Hall of Famer Michael Jordan.
Paige recorded his 14th point of the night to surpass Jordan for 12th place on the school’s alltime list. He now trails Bobby Lewis’s 1,836 for No. 11 on the all-time list.
Jordan recorded 1,788 points in his three years at North Carolina from 1981 to ’84.
Tyler Hansbrough is the all-time leading scorer with his 2,302 points in four years.
Paige already holds the all-time school record in three-pointers made for the Tar Heels.
The Tar Heels look to advance to the Elite Eight just one year after losing in the Sweet 16 to eventual runner-up Wisconsin.
