Florida State RB Dalvin Cook undergoes shoulder surgery

Florida State running back Dalvin Cook is set to miss the remainder of the spring and will be sidelined for several months after undergoing shoulder surgery, according to the Orlando Sentinel's Brendan Sonnone.

Cook is expected to be out until June or July, which means he should be ready for the Seminoles’ season opener against Ole Miss on Sept. 5.

“It was questionable whether to do it or not, so we went ahead and did it,” head coach Jimbo Fisher said. “It’s a good thing they did, but nothing drastic. He’ll be immobilized for about two months.”

Last season, Cook rushed for 1,691 yards and 19 touchdowns in his sophomore campaign.

Cook joins Mario Pender and Johnathan Vickers as injured Florida State running backs, with Pender recovering from a collapsed lung. The team will rely on sophomore Jacques Patrick and junior Ryan Green during the spring.
