Illinois guard Kendrick Nunn plead guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge on Wednesday, reports May Schenk of the Champaign-Urbana News-Gazette.

Nunn, 20, is charged with hitting Kayla Williams in the head, pushing her to the floor and pouring water on her during an argument. 

He will avoid a conviction on his record if he completes 100 hours of public service, enrolls in a partner abuse program and writes a letter of apology to Williams, while going through 18 months of court supervision.

Nunn also had two charges of domestic battery dropped as part of a plea deal.

He was arrested in March after Williams called police and said she was hit by Nunn. Neighbors called 911 after hearing a loud argument in Williams’s apartment, and both she and Nunn initally denied that anything had happened.

Nunn averaged 15.5 points and five rebounds as a junior this season.
