Louisville's Chinanu Onuaku will remain in the NBA Draft
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) Louisville center/forward Chinanu Onuaku will forgo his final two seasons of eligibility to stay in the NBA Draft.
The 6-foot-10 sophomore announced his decision Wednesday evening, just over a week after undergoing a medical procedure to correct a heart rhythm issue detected during the NBA Draft combine. Projected as a possible first-round selection, Onuaku said in a release that he talked with family and friends and is ''excited'' to remain in the draft and pursue an NBA career.
Onuaku averaged 9.9 points and 8.5 rebounds and made the all-Atlantic Coast Conference defensive team last season. Louisville coach Rick Pitino thanked Onuaku for his effort and added, ''there's not a doubt in my mind that he will go into his individual workouts and show everyone what he's all about.''
