Baylor quarterback Jarrett Stidham plans to remain with the team despite the flurry of firings, transfers, releases and resignations stemming from the university and athletic department's handling of rape allegations by student athletes.

“Can't wait to get back on that grind tomorrow with my brothers,” Stidham wrote on Instagram. “This year is going to be different than the rest in many ways, but either way we will make a statement to everyone. Excited for the opportunity God has presented this team with to overcome adversity and become even closer as a family. Stick with us Baylor nation, we got this..”

Months of investigation uncovered a number of instances in which Baylor officials and coaches were aware of sexual assault allegations against players but did not pursue disciplinary action, according to the report compiled by law firm Pepper Hamilton.

Athletic director Ian McCaw resigned on Monday after the team announced the hiring of Jim Grobe as Art Briles' replacement at head coach. Baylor announced last week it had suspended Briles with the ”intent to terminate.”

Stidham is expected to serve as the team’s back-up quarterback behind Seth Russell, who started and won seven games for the Bears last season. Russell’s season was cut short when he sustained a broken neck bone against Iowa State. He finished the season 119 for 200 with 2,104 yards, 29 touchdowns and six interceptions. He added another six touchdowns on the ground.

Stidham finished last season with 1,265 yards and 12 touchdowns.

All current players have remained on the team. Running back Kameron Martin, offensive lineman Patrick Hudson and offensive tackle J.P. Urquidez are among the recruits that have requested their release from their National Letter of Intent.
