Four-star receiver Devin Duvernay is free to sign with another school after learning that his national letter of intent was never submitted by Baylor to the Big 12 offices, according to ESPN. 

Duvernay, who is the No. 4 receiver in the 2016 class according to Scout.com, began seeking his release from the school after Art Briles was fired for his role in a sexual assault scandal that has rocked the university.

School’s have 14 days to submit NLI’s after they have been signed and sent in by players. After that time, the letter becomes invalid and the player can look to sign with another school.

The error with Duvernay’s letter was discovered by his father, Henry, after he submitted a request for his son to be released from the school.

Donovan Duvernay, a three-star receiver and the twin of Devin, is also looking for his release from Baylor. Donovan’s letter was properly submitted to the Big 12.

The Duvernay brothers are among seven players who have signed with Baylor and are looking for releases from their NLI commitments.
