Three LSU defenders have sustained injuries during the Tigers’ preseason camp, and two will miss the 2016 season as a result.

Defensive ends Christian LaCouture and Isaiah Washington have been ruled out for the year after tearing knee ligaments, reports The Advocate. Meanwhile, linebacker Corey Thompson fractured his ankle Wednesday and is expected to miss games when the season starts.

Thompson, a senior, was likely in line to start at linebacker this season. He started three of LSU’s last five games in 2015, mostly at safety.

LaCouture, also a senior, was expected to be a key player for LSU this season. He still has the option to redshirt and return to the team next season.

Washington would have likely been a backup at defensive end and outside linebacker.
