Duke, Kansas, Villanova top Week 1 coaches poll
The Duke Blue Devils top the first college basketball coaches' poll of the year with Mike Krzyzewski's squad receiving 27 first-place votes.
Duke finished last year's poll in 18th place after a 25–11 record, and lost to Oregon in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA tournament.
The Kansas Jayhawks open the season ranked No. 2 after a 33–5 season. The defending champion Villanova Wildcats are third with just one first-place vote. Oregon rounds out the top five.
The biggest jump comes from the Iona Gaels who moved up 21 spots to open at No. 19. The Maryland Terrapins fell nine spots to No. 21.
