Woman files lawsuit after Bo Ryan affair
A woman who had an extramarital affair with former Wisconsin basketball coach Bo Ryan has filed a federal lawsuit against eight UW-Madison officials alleging defamation and other rights violations, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
In February 2015, the woman, Robin Van Ert, reportedly informed the university that she was involved in an affair with Ryan and that the university conducted an investigation that he did not misuse any university resources in connection with the relationship. The complaint describes the investigation as a “sham.”
Van Ert also claims that university officials violated her privacy rights by revealing her identity. She is hoping to receive compensatory and punitive damages, as well as attorney fees.

The affair reportedly took place from 2009 to 2014.
Ryan resigned as head coach in December 2015 but said the affair had nothing to do with his decision.
