Alabama will probably make the playoff whether or not it beats Florida. Even an upset of Clemson wouldn't send Virginia Tech to the playoff. Colorado could be Rose Bowl bound whether it wins or loses against Washington. The Big Ten champion probably won't make the top four with some help. And neither Oklahoma nor Oklahoma State has much of a shot at a berth in the national semifinals.

But no matter the playoff impact, when there are conference titles and bragging rights on the line, it's never O.K. to lose. Just ask Nick Saban.
