With a 15-yard first-down run in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s Las Vegas Bowl, San Diego State senior running back Donnel Pumphrey set the FBS all-time rushing record. The Aztecs emerged from Sam Boyd Stadium with a 34-10 victory.

Pumphrey, 22, eclipsed the 6,397 mark set by Ron Dayne at Wisconsin in 2000.

The 5'9", 175-pound back out of North Las Vegas, Nevada needed 108 yards to break the record entering the game, and got it on his 19th carry

He rushed for a touchdown earlier in the game and the Aztecs led Houston, 20–10, at the time he broke the record.
