Report: Louisville to Hire Scott Satterfield as New Head Football Coach

Satterfield has won 10 games or more in three of his past four seasons at Appalachian State.

Louisville willhire Scott Satterfield as its next head football coach, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.

According to the Courier-Journal, Louisville will announce the decision during a press conference at 4:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Satterfield, 45, has spent each of the past six seasons as Appalachian State's head coach. The former Mountaineers quarterback began his coaching career at his alma mater as a wide receivers coach in 1998. He also served as Appalachian State's running backs coach (1999–2002) and quarterbacks coach (2003–2008) before accepting a role as Toledo's quarterbacks coach in 2009.

Satterfield worked as Florida International's offensive coordinator from 2010-11 before returning to Appalachian State in the same capacity in 2012. He was promoted to head coach in 2013 and was at the helm when the school began competing in FBS in 2014.

Satterfield compiled a 51–24 record as the Mountaineers head coach and has won 10 or more games in three of the past four campaigns. He has guided Appalachian State to three straight conference titles and was named Sun Belt Coach of the Year this season.

Satterfield was announced as Louisville's new coach nearly a month after the program announced the firing of head coach Bobby Petrino, who had coached Louisville since 2014. The Cardinals went 2–10 this season, marking their first campaign below .500 since 2009.
