Texas barely hung on in its last game, getting a dramatic 50–48 win at home over Kansas. The Longhorns needed a game-winning field goal by Cameron Dicker to avoid the upset in an offensive showcase that saw Tom Herman's team put up 638 total yards, but allow 569 to the Jayhawks.
If Texas wants to avoid another scare in this contest, its defense will need to be much stronger. However, quarterback Sam Ehlinger has been incredible this season, throwing 21 touchdowns to just three interceptions to put his name in the conversation with the other elite college signal-callers.
TCU struggled in its last outing, losing 24–17 in a defensive battle with Kansas State. The Horned Frogs' offense never really got going in that game, with quarterback Max Duggan going just 16 of 29 for 132 yards and no scores. Duggan did rush for a 46-yard score to tie the game in the third quarter, but he will need to be more of a passing threat to give TCU a look at an upset victory.
