University of South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer is set to receive a significant contract extension after an eight-win season that included two top 10 wins over Tennessee and Clemson, according to a report from ESPN’s Chris Low.

Per Low’s report, Beamer will go from earning $2.75 million annually to around $6.5 million per season for the life of the contract. The University is holding a board meeting on Friday to finalize the contract change for Beamer, who is 15–11 in two seasons at the school.

The Gamecocks went 7–6 in year one of Beamer’s tenure in 2021, which included a Duke’s Mayo Bowl victory over North Carolina. South Carolina concluded an 8–5 season last week with a 45–38 loss to Notre Dame in the Gator Bowl.

Despite the bowl loss, there was plenty of progress shown in year two, from a two-win improvement in the regular season (eight wins in ’22 from six in ’21) to quality wins over Clemson and Tennessee.

Now as the Gamecocks move into the offseason, it’s clear the program’s support of what Beamer is building in Columbia has been taken to another level with the significant raise to existing pay.
