Former Ohio State football player Harry Miller, who medically retired from football in March 2022 after disclosing his past mental health struggles, will attend President Joe Biden's State of the Union address Tuesday night.

Miller “is part of a select group from across the country that will sit in First Lady Jill Biden’s viewing box for the president’s speech,” according to a Tuesday-morning report from The Columbus Dispatch. He tweeted a photo of himself outside the White House on Tuesday morning.

From 2019 to ’21, Miller played in 22 games for the Buckeyes, garnering Academic All-Big Ten honors his last two seasons.

In March 2022, Miller announced his retirement from football, disclosing that he had informed Ohio State coach Ryan Day before the ’21 season of his intention to kill himself.

“This is not an issue reserved for the far and away,” he wrote. “It is in our homes. It is in our conversations. It is in the people we love.”

Since his announcement, Miller has become active in promoting causes related to mental health.
