All-America running back Blake Corum brought about plenty of fanfare last month when he announced he would be returning to Ann Arbor for his senior season. On Wednesday, he upped the ante with a bold proclamation at the men’s basketball team’s home game against Nebraska.

Brought onto the court at halftime with other football players, Corum was handed the microphone to speak to the crowd. He made the most of his public address, pledging a national championship in 2023.

“Man it feels good to be back!” Corum told the crowd at the Crisler Center. “We’re gonna win the national championship and go down in history. That’s all I got. Go Blue!”

Corum has been a key piece of back-to-back College Football Playoff squads for the Wolverines. He rushed for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2021, then elevated his game this past season to the tune of 1,463 yards and 18 scores as Michigan won its second straight Big Ten championship.

Corum’s season was cut short after he injured his knee in the team’s 11th game of the season, which required surgery and kept him out of the Big Ten title game and the Fiesta Bowl against TCU. He eventually finished seventh in the Heisman Trophy voting.
