In the aftermath of a brutal college basketball brawl between Austin Peay and North Florida, the Governors and ASUN are suspending three players who were involved.

On Monday, Austin Peay suspended guard Kamarie Coffey for two games and guard Carlos Paez and forward Cameron Copeland for one game after a fight erupted in the last seconds of the Governors’ 73–71 win over the Ospreys Saturday afternoon in Clarksville, Tenn.

Just two games remain for Austin Peay in the 2023 regular season: a trip to Stetson on Wednesday and a road date with Florida Gulf Coast on Friday.

The Governors are 9–20, 14th in the 14-team ASUN.

The victory over North Florida marked the team’s first win since Jan. 7, ending an 11-game losing streak. However, the triumph devolved into chaos when Copeland attempted a clinching layup at the buzzer and was brought to the ground by an Ospreys defender. Copeland went after the player and a melee ensued during which Paez attempted to slam him to the ground.

Per the Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle via the Associated Press, North Florida has yet to announce any potential disciplinary action.
