Georgia Tech is firing men’s basketball coach Josh Pastner, Jeff Goodman of Stadium reports.

After seven years at Memphis, Pastner joined Georgia Tech ahead of the 2016–17 season replacing Brian Gregory. In seven seasons with the Yellow Jackets, Pastner only surpassed 20 wins one time, his first year with the program. Additionally, Georgia Tech’s highlight under Pastner was a 17–9 season in 2020–21, which ended with an ACC tournament championship for the first time since 1993.

However, despite some high notes, Pastner couldn’t keep up sustained success. Georgia Tech had four losing seasons in Pastner’s seven-year tenure, which included a combined 27–38 record over the last two years. The Yellow Jackets most recently finished 6–14 in the ACC and lost to Pitt in the second round of the ACC tournament this week.

In seven seasons, Pastner made one NCAA tournament at Georgia Tech, a first round loss as a nine-seed to No. 8 Loyola Chicago in 2021.
