Caitlin Clark Issued Weak Technical Foul, Rebecca Lobo Wasn’t Having it

The ESPN analyst unloaded on some of the most controversial officiating in recent memory.

Sunday's national championship game between Iowa and LSU was a matchup for the ages, filled with star power on the court and the sidelines.

Naturally, the game's biggest storyline would up being about the officials.

Late in the third quarter, Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark was issued a technical foul after appearing to push the ball aside in frustration. The indiscretion saddled Clark with her fourth personal foul, putting Clark in danger of fouling out of one of the biggest games in the history of women's college basketball.

The foul was roundly criticized by ESPN analyst Rebecca Lobo, a national champion with Connecticut in 1995.

"She said nothing," Lobo said with emphasis.

"You've got to be kidding me," play-by-play commentator Ryan Ruocco said disbelievingly.

"No player in this game should get a technical foul for that," Lobo added.

The call helped stem a strong third quarter for Iowa, which outscored the Tigers 22-16 in the period.
