Dan Hurley ‘Not That Excited’ After UConn Defeats Miami in Final Four
UConn is back in the national championship, having taken down Miami in the Final Four to continue their dominant run during the NCAA tournament.
Head coach Dan Hurley kept it real with his team after the win, telling the Huskies in the locker room that he wasn’t surprised they were headed to the title game. In fact, in the eyes of Hurley, this game was never in any doubt.
“I’m not that excited fellas. Really, to be honest with you, because we knew we were going to be playing on Monday,” said Hurley to a round of applause from the team. “It’s hard to come in here, you know, screaming and yelling... because you guys have just been so dominant.”
This is a Huskies team that is brimming with confidence right now, and that’s evident both on and off the court. Hurley didn't mince words when addressing his team, with his eyes fully on Monday’s game against San Diego State.
UConn’s 13-point victory over Miami marks the program's fifth consecutive double-digit win during the 2023 NCAA tournament. Remarkably, Saturday’s margin of victory was their smallest during the Big Dance.
The Huskies have not lost a game during the 2023 calendar year, with their most recent defeat coming on Dec. 31, 2022 against Xavier. They’ll look to continue that streak with one final win over SDSU on Monday night in Houston, in what could be UConn's fifth-ever national title victory.
