IMG Academy guard Anquan Boldin Jr.—son of three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Anquan Boldin— has committed to play basketball for Buffalo, the Bulls announced Wednesday afternoon.

The elder Boldin played 14 seasons with the Cardinals, Ravens, 49ers and Lions from 2003 to ’16 after playing collegiately for Florida State. Boldin also played basketball at Pahokee High School in Pahokee, Fla.

Boldin Jr. thanked his parents in a tweet announcing his commitment. In an April 20 interview with Pro Insight, Boldin Jr. said, "I’ve always wanted to be better than my dad. Not in a cocky way... he set the standard and I’m trying to be better than that every single day."

The younger Boldin—who as a child was photographed celebrating Baltimore’s victory in Super Bowl XLVII with his father—will join a Buffalo team that struggled to a 15–17 record last season.

Meanwhile, fans old enough to remember Boldin will undoubtedly join their elders in pondering their own mortality.
