Oral Roberts Makes History as Third No. 4 Seed to Advance to Men's College World Series
When most people think of Oral Roberts, they think basketball, given that the hardwood Golden Eagles reached the Elite Eight in 1974 and the Sweet 16 as a No. 15 seed in 2021.
On Sunday, however, Oral Roberts crashed another sport's biggest stage.
The Golden Eagles topped Oregon, 11–6, in Game 3 of baseball's Eugene Super Regional to become just the third No. 4 seed to reach the Men's College World Series since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1999. Oral Roberts joined Fresno State (2008) and Stony Brook (2012) in the exclusive club; the Bulldogs famously went on to win the national championship.
Making the victory even more remarkable was the fact that the Golden Eagles blew an eight-run lead in the opening game of the series and lost 9–8. They recovered to win Game 2 after trailing 7–4 in the eighth, and rode that the momentum to a Game 3 triumph.

In the regional round, Oral Roberts topped Oklahoma State, Washington and Dallas Baptist in succession to advance.
The Golden Eagles last reached Omaha in 1978, and made their only other super regional in 2006. The program's notable baseball alumni include Blue Jays pitcher Jordan Romano and Yankees catcher Jose Trevino.
