Deion Sanders Undergoes Successful Emergency Surgery to Remove Blood Clot

The Colorado coach has had health issues in his foot for a few years.

Deion Sanders underwent successful surgery for a blood clot in each of his legs, his girlfriend Tracey Edmonds announced on Instagram.

“We are so grateful for the healing power of God and for all of our prayer Warriors,” she wrote. “It was a long, but successful day! Deion Sanders is resting and doing great tonight after his surgery! Thank you Lord! Thank you Fam! We love you!”

Edmonds also posted a picture with Sanders that shows the NFL Hall of Famer smiling with two thumbs up from his hospital bed.

The Colorado coach needed the surgery to help with circulation in both of his legs. The procedure should help Sanders get back “proper bloodflow” that should make it easier for his doctors too address the issues in his left foot. Sanders previously needed to have two toes amputated, and doctors warned that he might need to get the entire foot amputated if it didn’t get better.

However, Sanders maintained that is a worst case scenario, and this latest surgery should help alleviate his health issue with his foot.

“There’s no talk of amputation,” he wrote on Instagram Thursday.

After three years at Jackson State, Sanders is about to enter his first season as the head coach of Colorado.
