Ex-Alabama Standout Jahvon Quinerly Transfers to Memphis

After three seasons in Tuscaloosa, the former McDonald’s All-American has a new home.

Former Alabama point guard Jahvon Quinerly announced on his Twitter page that he is transferring to Memphis for the 2023–24 season.

Quinerly, a former five-star recruit in the class of 2018, began his collegiate career under Hall of Fame coach Jay Wright at Villanova, However, due to his inability to earn consistent minutes with the Wildcats he transferred to Alabama.

Last month, the former McDonald's All-American announced he was entering the transfer portal.

In his first two seasons at Tuscaloosa, Quinerly found success in Nate Oats’ offense. In 2020, he averaged 12.9 points, while shooting 43.3% from beyond the arc. In his junior season, the point guard started 27 of 33 games and contributed 13.8 points and 4.2 assists per game.

After tearing his ACL in the 2022 NCAA tournament, Quinerly came off the bench starting only seven of 35 games which resulted in a major hit in his production—averaging just 8.7 points and 3.6 assists. Down the stretch of the season, he returned to the starting lineup and was integral part of the Tide’s run to the Sweet 16, scoring 14.4 points while adding 4.0 assists over the club’s final nine games.

Quinerly, 24, will now bolster Penny Hardaway’s backcourt next season who lost leading scorer Kendric Davis (21.9 points per game) after finishing 26–9 last year.
