While Ohio State football coach Ryan Day presides over one of the most prestigious jobs in the country, he also must juggle the role of father to an athlete who is navigating the recruiting trail.

Day’s son, RJ Day, is a high school freshman quarterback, and he just received his first Division I scholarship offer.

RJ Day revealed on social media Sunday night that he has received an offer from Boston College after he spoke with Eagles head coach Jeff Hafley. It may not be a coincidence that Hafley served as Ohio State’s defensive coordinator in 2019, the same year Day took over as head coach of the Buckeyes.

RJ, Day’s eldest child and only son, played in his first high school football game last week for St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus, leading his team to victory with a winning touchdown pass.

RJ Day is still a few years from playing college football, as a member of the 2027 recruiting class. But he’s clearly already turning heads at the Division I level.
