Deion Sanders After Statement Win to Open Colorado Tenure: ‘I Keep Receipts’
If you were shocked by Colorado’s upset win as a three-score underdog on Saturday against TCU, a team that made the national championship game a year ago, you haven’t been paying enough attention to the coaching prowess of Deion Sanders.
Yes, Colorado went 1–11 last season. Yes, the Buffaloes were one of the worst teams in not only the Power Five, but in the entire FBS last season.
But after Sanders completely overhauled the roster, bringing in 53 new players via the transfer portal after taking the job this past offseason, the Buffaloes looked (and played) like an entirely different football team in their 45–42 victory in Fort Worth. Sanders didn’t forget the doubters.
“I saw what you wrote,” Sanders said to a reporter on Saturday, per Shehan Jeyarajah of CBS Sports. “Do you believe?”
After the reporter didn’t respond right away, Sanders was ready to move on.
“You still don’t believe. Next question.”
As Sanders got up to leave the press conference, he was heard saying, “I keep the receipts,” according to Yahoo‘s Ross Dellenger.
There were plenty of doubters in Colorado heading into the season due the debacle a year ago that led to Karl Dorrell’s firing. But it’s a new era in Boulder, and Sanders won’t let college football fans forget it.
