Robert Griffin III Splits Pants Diving Off Dock On Air at Boise State-Washington Game
If college football fans can identify one characteristic of Washington's Husky Stadium, it's the picturesque scenery surrounding it. The 103-year-old venue is flanked by 33.8-square mile Lake Washington, and attracts a flotilla of seaborne spectators in good times and bad.
In the name of quality television, the seascape is often an establishing-shot magnet for networks carrying the Huskies' games. However, during No. 10 Washington's opener against Boise State Saturday afternoon, color commentator Robert Griffin III took this to an extreme.
Griffin III was filmed gleefully jumping into the lake in a full suit before the game, splitting his pants in the process.
"I'm so excited for the college football season to be back. Let's go ahead and start this thing with a splash," the former Baylor quarterback said, promptly throwing himself into the drink.
"Someone get that man a life preserver, and get him to the booth!" play-by-play commentator Bob Wischusen said, segueing into a commercial break as Griffin III treaded water.
Griffin III later tweeted video of the rip, saying he "couldn't have planned it any better."
