Nick Saban Heaps Praise on Deion Sanders Amid Colorado’s 3–0 Start

Colorado’s 3–0 start to the season has been the story of the college football season thus far, as head coach Deion Sanders already has the Buffaloes outperforming their expectations. The success has garnered a ton of national attention, including from arguably the best college coach of all time.

Nick Saban was asked about Sanders on Wednesday, and the Alabama coach praised Sanders for who he is as both a person and a coach.

“I have a tremendous amount of respect for Deion Sanders,” Saban said, via ESPN. “First, he’s a great person and he’s done a great job of marketing the program to create a lot of national interest. But I see their team playing well on the field. They play with discipline, they do a good job of executing, they've been able to score points, playing decent on defense. So all those things, to me, are indicators that he's a really good coach.”

Alabama coach Nick Saban praised Colorado coach Deion Sanders for his 3-0 start to the season.

Saban has not only been coaching in college for multiple decades, but he’s also worked with many assistants who went on to be head coaches elsewhere. Therefore, he understands what goes into being a good coach as much as anyone in the sport.

The feelings between Saban and Sanders are mutual, as Sanders spoke highly of Saban while appearing on 60 Minutes over the weekend.

“He’s forgotten more things than I may ever accomplish,” Sanders said of Saban. “I’m a student looking up to this wonderful teacher saying ‘give me a crumb of what you know.’”
