Caleb Williams Dazzles Fans as USC Defeats Colorado in Shootout

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner is off to a strong start in his quest for a repeat.

USC quarterback Caleb Williams has a tall task to try and surpass his Heisman Trophy-winning season last year, as only Archie Griffin has ever won back-to-back Heismans. However, with his performance on Saturday, Williams is off to a good start in his attempt to make history.

While facing Colorado, Williams lit up the scoreboard, throwing for six touchdown passes in the first three quarters and surpassing 400 passing yards on the day with just 10 incompletions total. Throughout the game, Williams put up several highlight-worthy plays, which included a wild 71-yard touchdown pass to Tahj Washington while escaping the pocket.

Williams’s entire performance garnered a lot of reaction from fans, but that one play especially caught everyone’s attention. The quarterback, who is already expected to be a top prospect in next year’s NFL draft, continues to impress in his time at USC.

Despite a late Colorado push, USC topped the Buffaloes 48–41 to remain undefeated on the season. Williams had by far his best game of the year, and now totals 21 touchdowns to just one interception through five games this year.
