Georgia Tight End Brock Bowers to Undergo Ankle Surgery
Georgia tight end Brock Bowers will undergo surgery on his injured left ankle and will be out for three to six weeks, the school announced Monday. Bowers is widely considered to be a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
Bowers left Saturday’s game at Vanderbilt with a high ankle sprain in the second quarter, and he’ll undergo surgery Monday in order to stabilize it. The junior was named first-team All-America last season, recording 63 catches for 942 yards and seven touchdowns.
He’ll leave a gaping hole in the Bulldogs’ vaunted offense as they pursue their third national championship in a row. An optimistic recovery timeframe would put him in position to return in mid-November.
Georgia (7–0) has a bye this week and returns to action Oct. 28 against archrival Florida (5–2) in Jacksonville.
