Carmelo Anthony, Son Kiyan Pose in Syracuse Jerseys on Official Recruiting Visit
For over 20 years, Carmelo Anthony’s pursuit of greatness propelled him to stardom both in college and the NBA. Now, the future Hall of Famer could be on the verge of seeing his legacy continue at his alma mater.
In a sight that may make many college basketball and NBA fans feel old, Anthony’s son and four-star recruit Kiyan Anthony shared an Instagram post on Friday featuring photos of him and his dad posing in Syracuse jerseys during his recent official recruiting visit to the school.
The shots of Syracuse legend Anthony back in his iconic No. 15 alongside the 16-year-old Anthony sporting a No. 1 jersey understandably generated ample buzz online. As if the hype train couldn’t roll any faster, though, the young Anthony’s not-so-subtle caption took things up another notch.
“carry the torch?🍊#officialvisit,“ Anthony wrote under the post, hinting at a potential future commitment to the Orange and a chance to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Although it remains to be seen where Anthony, a junior at Long Island Lutheran High School in New York, decides to play, it’s no secret that joining Syracuse would, no doubt, be a major next step for the promising prospect.
Such a decision would also mark a significant move in its own right for the elder Anthony, whose lone collegiate season saw him average 22.2 points per game and lead Syracuse to its only national title as a freshman, prior to becoming the No. 3 pick in the 2003 NBA draft.
