After a heartbreaking loss to Miami in double overtime on Saturday, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney made a joke about suicide when discussing his team’s sports psychologist.

The Tigers are uncharacteristically 4–3 to start the season and two of those losses have come in overtime. One reporter asked Swinney if the team has ever employed sports psychologists to help players during a slump like this and Swinney just laughed before making the head-turning joke.

“We got him. He’s probably on suicide-watch right now,” Swinney said. “I’m sure things have not gone the way ya’ll always want. Maybe in your professional career from time to time and you had a plan, worked hard and you did everything [and] didn’t go the way you want. You just gotta keep moving. You gotta keep going.”

Saturdays win was the first time the Hurricanes have beat the Tigers since 2010. Clemson is now 7–6 in its last 13 games and is set to take on NC State (4–3) on Saturday.
