Jim Harbaugh, Michigan Football Show Up at Wolverines Hockey Game After Win at Penn State

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh was just another spectator Saturday afternoon, as he sat out the No. 3 Wolverines’ 24–15 win over No. 10 Penn State as the opening leg of his three-game suspension.

However, in the spirit of Air Bud, there is no rule in the Big Ten’s bylaws that says Harbaugh can’t attend Michigan hockey games. And so he did, appearing with his team at the Wolverines’ game against Minnesota Saturday evening.

Harbaugh was suspended by the conference Friday afternoon for the remainder of the regular season amid an ongoing NCAA investigation into allegations that Michigan deployed illegal in-game scouting to steal opponents’ signs.

The Wolverines took to the ground to win without him, rushing for 227 yards and passing for just 60 to overcome the Nittany Lions’ vaunted defense.

With a hearing on Harbaugh's restraining order against the Big Ten reportedly set for Friday, Michigan has a road game against Maryland and a home game against Ohio State left on its regular-season schedule.
