Boston College CB Ejected for Targeting After Egregious Hit
This is about as clear as a targeting call can get.
In this story:
Boston College cornerback Khari Johnson was ejected from Thursday’s game against Pittsburgh for targeting after making an egregious hit on tight end Malcolm Epps.
The incident occurred during the first half, when Epps went up to make a catch across the middle of the field. Johnson could clearly be seen leading with his helmet as he hit the Pitt tight end in midair.
The defensive back’s arms were at his side as he careened his helmet into the back of the helmet of the tight end..
The hit resulted in a targeting penalty and Johnson was ejected from the game.
In terms of targeting penalties, Johnson’s display was about as obvious and appalling as they come. College football fans were stunned by the hit, and had plenty to say on social media.
