LSU Star Angel Reese Not Seen With Team Ahead of Game at Southeastern Louisiana, per Report
Amid a tumultuous start to the 2024 season, it appears that the status of No. 7 LSU women’s basketball’s best player is up in the air.
Tigers forward Angel Reese was not seen with the team as it warmed up for its Friday evening road game against Southeastern Louisiana, according to a report from Reed Darcey of The Advocate.
Reese is averaging 17 points and 10.3 rebounds per game in four games for LSU this year.
She started the Tigers’ most recent contest—a resounding 109–79 win over Kent State Tuesday—but sat out its entire second half in what coach Kim Mulkey called a “coach’s decision.”
On Thursday, LSU coach Kim Mulkey was asked about Reese’s availability against the Lions and responded “you’d better get a ticket and see.” After the game, Mulkey said Reese "is a part of this basketball team, and we hope she's back with the team soon. I'm not gonna answer any more than that."
The Tigers are coming off their first national championship, won 102–85 over Iowa on April 2 in one of the most closely watched women's sporting events in U.S. history.
However, LSU opened its title defense with a thud, losing its opener 92–78 to Colorado on Nov. 6.
