Utah QB Cam Rising Announces He’s Returning for 2024 Season
Utah quarterback Cam Rising dropped a major announcement on his college football future on Sunday, taking to X to inform fans that he’d be returning to the Utes for the 2024 season.
“One more year,” wrote Rising on X.
Rising sustained a significant knee injury in January of last season during Utah’s Rose Bowl clash against Penn State. Despite some optimism that he’d return this season, he was ruled out for the year in October and opted to redshirt the season.
The quarterback revealed he underwent surgery on his ACL, meniscus, MPFL, and MCL during an appearance on The Bill Riley Show in October.
Rising was Utah’s starting quarterback in 2021 and 2022. During that span, he compiled 5,527 passing yards, 46 passing touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. He also rushed for 12 touchdowns and 963 yards, helping lead the Utes to consecutive Rose Bowl appearances.
During Rising’s absence in 2023, junior Bryson Barnes has been Utah’s starting quarterback. Utah is 7–4 on the season and 4–4 in Pac-12 play, sitting sixth in the conference.
Rising’s announcement will have fans in Salt Lake City fired up, with the star quarterback set to make a return for one last go-around next season when the Utes make their debut in the Big 12 conference.
