LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels has enjoyed a strong season, entering Saturday with 3,577 passing yards and 1,014 rushing yards while accounting for 46 total touchdowns. So, it’s no surprise that he’s one of the favorites to win this year’s Heisman Trophy when it’s awarded on Dec. 9.

Daniels played his final collegiate home game against Texas A&M on Saturday, and the Tigers marching band had a special performance to show the school’s appreciation for the quarterback. At halftime, the band performed in a formation that resembled the Heisman Trophy pose, lending their support to Daniels for the award.

Although there hasn’t been an obvious choice to win the Heisman over the course of the season, Daniels’s consistent production has put him at the center of the discussion of late. The Arizona State transfer likely is battling Oregon quarterback Bo Nix for the award.

In LSU’s final regular season game of the season, Daniels and the Tigers find themselves in a battle with the Aggies, who at one point enjoyed a 10-point lead. However, Daniels helped the Tigers overcome the deficit and take a 10-point lead of their own in the fourth quarter.

Two LSU players have won the Heisman previously: Billy Cannon in 1959 and Joe Burrow in 2019.
