Alabama’s Jalen Milroe Makes Bold Statement on Heisman Trophy After Beating Auburn
Jalen Milroe had himself a day on Saturday, leading No. 8 Alabama to a comeback victory over Auburn.
Milroe threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns against the Tigers, setting up the Crimson Tide for a showdown against No. 1 Georgia in the SEC championship that could serve as a play-in game for the College Football Playoff.
Milroe's biggest play of the day was also his last, connecting with receiver Isaiah Bond on fourth-and-goal from the 31-yard line to stun the Auburn crowd with just seconds left on the clock.
After Alabama's special teams and defense cleaned up the final few seconds of regulation, Milroe and his teammates were celebrating on the field.
As he stormed the field, Milroe yelled with joy.
"Let's go! Let's f---ing go!" Milroe said. "Give me the Heisman! Give me that m-----f-----!"
As things stand, Milroe will likely not be winning the Heisman, as Oregon's Bo Nix and LSU's Jayden Daniels currently stand as the two favorites to win the award.
Still, Milroe has an outside shot of receiving a nomination for the award, and with it, a trip to the ceremony.
Further, who can blame Milroe for believing he's deserving of the honor after pulling off such an astonishing comeback?
Milroe's season might not be worth a Heisman this year, but that last play sure was.
