Over two seasons with Florida, running back Trevor Etienne showed signs of being able to live up to his brother Travis's considerable collegiate success.

Etienne ran for 719 yards and six touchdowns his freshman season, and followed that up with 753 yards and eight touchdowns his sophomore year. The talent was there, even if the Gators had trouble sustaining success in both 2022 and 2023.

However, Etienne is now in the transfer portal, leaving Florida fans to cope with the loss of one of their team's offensive bell cows—and his mother to defend her son's decision.

"We made the best decision for the 'Etienne Family.' That's it and that's all..." his mother, nurse Donnetta Etienne, wrote on social media Thursday afternoon.

Trevor's brother, Jaguars running back Travis Etienne, played for Clemson from 2017-20. He was a two-time ACC Player of the Year, and finished seventh and ninth in the Heisman voting in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
