Temple quarterback EJ Warner is on the move.

The Owls signal-caller is set to remain an Owl, but for a new school, joining Rice through the transfer portal ahead of the 2024 college football season.

Warner is the son of Super Bowl champion Kurt Warner, and has two years of eligibility left in his college career.

At Rice, Warner will become the second straight high-profile transfer to take over the offense, succeeding former USC and Georgia quarterback JT Daniels, who lead the Owls through the 2023 season.

Warner announced the move in a post to his social media account on Wednesday afternoon.

Warner topped 3,000 yards passing in both of his two seasons starting at Temple, throwing 41 touchdowns against 24 interceptions thus far in his college career.

At Rice, Warner will play under coach Mike Bloomgren who has led the program since 2018. Rice has made bowl games in back-to-back seasons, but has not had a winning record in the regular season since 2014.

A win in the coming First Responders Bowl against Texas State on Dec. 26 would push the Owls to 7–6 on the year.
