Ohio State Lands Former Kansas State QB Will Howard in Transfer Portal, per Report
Former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard has committed to play for Ohio State next season, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports. Thamel said the 22-year-old chose to attend Ohio State over USC and Miami.
“When I started talking to Ohio State, everything kind of lined up,” Howard told Thamel. “I had a list of things I was looking for, in terms of needing to go somewhere where there was a lot of talent around me and somewhere I could compete for a national championship.”
Howard spent the past four seasons playing for Kansas State, including parts of the last two years as the starting quarterback, and helped lead the Wildcats to the Big 12 title in 2022. This year, Howard played in 12 games and recorded 2,643 passing yards with 24 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions, leading the Wildcats to an 8-4 record.
The Buckeyes land Howard to replace quarterback Kyle McCord, who transferred from Ohio State to Syracuse following his lone season as the starter for the team. McCord decided to move on despite going 11-1 as a starter with 3,170 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns and six interceptions.
