Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin posted a farewell message for the ages upon hearing about Nick Saban’s and Pete Carroll’s new career changes.

On Wednesday, the Alabama coach and Seattle Seahawks coach each attracted national attention: Saban decided to step down after 17 years of helming a dominant Crimson Tide program while Carroll will be taking a different role within the Seahawks organization as advisor.

Kiffin, who worked under Saban for three seasons at Alabama and under Carroll for six seasons at USC, won multiple national titles with each coach.

In a touching tribute on Wednesday, he expressed how grateful he was to Saban and Carroll for being “amazing mentors” and called them the two G.O.A.T.s.

“So honored and blessed to have learned from them and won national championships with both,” he wrote. “Thanks for taking a chance on me and being amazing mentor’s to me. Appreciate you both more than you will ever know. Greatness we may never see again. Appreciate it fans.”

The 48-year-old Kiffin has been tabbed as a potential candidate to replace Saban in Tuscaloosa, having formerly served as Alabama’s offensive coordinator from 2014–16. He has a 95–49 head coaching record across 12 seasons for four different college teams.
