Washington QB Will Rogers Re-Enters Transfer Portal As Kalen DeBoer Heads to Alabama, per Report
Shortly after news broke that Washington coach Kalen DeBoer is headed to Alabama to replace Nick Saban, former Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers is re-entering the transfer portal, ESPN’s Tom VanHaaren reported Friday.
Rogers, who announced he would transfer to Washington back on Dec. 15, was expected to take over under center for Huskies standout Michael Penix Jr., who is entering the NFL draft.
Saban’s sudden retirement finds DeBoer now in Tuscaloosa and the talented signal-caller Rogers looking for a new home.
Rogers reportedly became the fifth Huskies player to enter the transfer portal on Friday, joining cornerback Jabbar Muhammad, safety Mishael Powell, linebacker Ethan Barr and tight end Tre Watson.
In four seasons at Mississippi State, Rogers threw for 12,315 yards, 94 touchdowns and 28 interceptions.
