Former Four-Star QB Chubba Purdy Transfers to Nevada From Nebraska
Chubba Purdy is making sure that his older brother, Brock, isn’t the only quarterback from his family who’s in the news this week.
The younger Purdy committed on Monday to play football at Nevada, transferring to the Wolf Pack from Nebraska, where he played for the past two seasons.
Purdy originally had committed to San Jose State out of the transfer portal but flipped to Nevada after coach Brent Brennan left SJSU for Arizona.
Purdy, the younger brother of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, will have two seasons of eligibility for the Wolf Pack. A four-star prospect out of high school, he appeared in six games, starting two of them, for the Cornhuskers last year, completing 54.4% (31 of 57) of his passes for 382 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed for 180 yards and one score.
Nevada will be the third school Purdy plays for as a collegian. He began his career at Florida State, where he appeared in four games over two seasons, before transferring to Nebraska.
Purdy joined fellow Huskers QB Jeff Sims in the transfer portal after the season, while coach Matt Rhule actively sought a new signal-caller. Nebraska landed top recruit Dylan Raiola, getting him to flip his commitment from Georgia before the early signing period.
