Alabama Coach Who Followed Kalen DeBoer Could Leave Program for NFL Team, per Report
New Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb could be returning to the state of Washington just weeks after moving to the Crimson Tide program to join the Huskies’ former coach, Kalen DeBoer.
Grubb’s name has appeared as one of the top options for the Seattle Seahawks’ open offensive coordinator position, per Pro Football Talk. The NFL team just hired Mike MacDonald as their new head coach on Wednesday.
If Grubb is selected for the role in Seattle, this means he would move on from Alabama before even being there for a game or potentially even a full month.
Grubb and DeBoer have worked together since 2007, when DeBoer was the head coach at Sioux Falls. From there, Grubb followed DeBoer to Eastern Michigan, Fresno State and Washington. The duo helped lead Washington to the national title game vs. Michigan earlier this month.
The 47-year-old has never held an NFL coaching role before. If chosen for the Seahawks job, he would replace Shane Waldron, who held the position for the last three seasons.
