Iowa women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark moved into No. 2 on the NCAA’s all-time career scoring list in Wednesday night’s 110–74 win over Northwestern.

Clark’s bucket with 4:58 to play in the second quarter moved her past former Ohio State star Kelsey Mitchell’s 3,402 career points.

“The coolest thing is just the names I get to be around,” Clark said. “Those are people I grew up watching, especially Brittney Griner, Kelsey Mitchell. Those are really, really good players, people that are still playing our game at the very highest level. People that you watch night in and night out. Just special for me to be in the same area as them.”

Clark finished with 35 points on Wednesday and sits at 3,424 career points. She is just 103 points behind WNBA star and Washington alum Kelsey Plum, who has been the NCAA’s career scoring leader since December 2016. Clark is averaging 32.1 points per game and is on pace to break Plum’s career scoring mark on Feb. 15 against Michigan.

The third-ranked Hawkeyes are now 20–2 on the season and 9–1 in Big Ten play. They travel to Maryland on Saturday night.
